Recent studies show 1 in 5 people don't plan to do any of their Christmas shopping online. One reason may be they don't own a computer. I wanted to let you know that I just received the earrings I ordered during your "buy-one get-one-free" event! WOW! They are perfect! Both pairs! I bought the tiny white crystal hoops. They are exactly what I was looking for. The free pair of earrings were intended for a gift because I figured they would be bigger than what I normally wear. Thanks, it's sweet of you to write. We have noticed over the years that a customer who orders, say, 1 inch long earrings will always be interested in that size. (Unless she's buying a gift for someone.)

Other customers will show a marked preference for either silver or gold, based on what works best with their skin tone. Some ladies will only wear drop earrings and never even look at hoops. We love sending little jewelry surprises based on what we deduce you might like.

We were thrilled to find a small supply of these sterling silver dragonfly brooches with amethyst heads and grey freshwater pearl bodies. They are a good size: about 1 7/8 inches long and just about that wide.

i remember back in the day when i would find Jody Coyote hoops that had semi-precious stones in them. recently, my last pair of such hoops, silver small hoops with amethyst....broke. i was SO sad since they're not made that way anymore.

We have a vintage department for this very reason. If you're looking to replace a style from a few years back, you just might find them here! Quantities are extremely limited, and once they're gone they may not be back in stock for a long time.

Whew! We can finally sit down and catch our breath now the holiday rush is all but over.

Earrings were very popular. One savvy customer ordered a dozen pair, which we shipped the way we always ship earrings, each in its own custom gift box. I don't know her gifting plans but wouldn't it be fun to hand them around to the aunts, daughters, nieces and cousins and have everyone choose a pair they liked?

Oak Patch Gifts holiday warehouse blowout

We were fortunate enough to be able to attend this year's event, and from what we saw and heard, we can hardly wait for next December to roll around.

Staff handed each of us lovely ribbon-tie gift boxes to collect treasures in. It was a drizzly day (this is, after all, Oregon) but inside shopper excitement ran high. More than one customer checked out only to find she needed to return for more gifts!

Fabulous bargains were found in every line, including Plain Jane, Laid Back, Just Be Paws, Camp Grandma and of course, Jody Coyote.

I bought a hilarious Laid Back "Caution: 50 and Slow" cap with a bicycle horn and flashing light attached.

I got my t-shirt order from CafePress a few days ago. I've designed a shirt that says:

I'd just put the shirt on and Segway'd over to our local pet store. While standing at the checkout counter the clerk read my shirt and did a double-take.

"Did you know my mother started Jody Coyote?"

Well, no. Official history has it that a guy named Gene Wolfson started Jody Coyote and ran it for many years before selling to a private-equity firm.

The clerk's mom is Wolfson's ex-wife and the original Jody Coyote. (Not her real name, then or now.) And there's a story about how the name came about, how Wolfson ended up with the company and so on. And she's very willing to talk about it. And I have had a Jody Coyote book in the works for months that hasn't gotten past the outline stage.

Breezing through an airport

I've heard from several women lately who say they bought their favorite pair of Jody Coyote earrings in an airport. When they lost one earring, they had no idea where to turn. Even assuming you could drive to that airport, these days many shops and restaurants are on the other side of the security checkpoint. You can't get past it without a ticket.

Update on Jody Coyote necklaces and bracelets

We were told by the company that the Jody Coyote necklaces and bracelets were discontinued at the end of 2008, but we've been able to find an assortment of both. Watch for them soon on the site. When they're gone we may not be able to get any more.

Most of the customers who are looking for necklaces and bracelets assume the pieces will match earring styles they already have. This is both true and not true. Some of the necklaces match earrings, since they are essentially pendants made of earring parts and strung on sterling silver chains. But others don't and are completely original.

With a little care, a chain, a pair of needlenose pliers and an extra pair of your favorite Jody Coyote earrings, you can make your own matching necklace.

"It has a certain...symmetry"

You may have never considered this before when shopping for earrings, but there are basically two types of earrings: Those that are symmetrical, like these Jody Coyote blue gold diamond drop earrings QM071:

and those that are not, like these Jody Coyote pink silver twist drop earrings JCE028. Notice how these earrings "face" in different directions? Asymmetrical designs like this are often exciting and kicky.

Draw an imaginary vertical line from the point the ear wire attaches down to the bottom of the earring. If you could make an imaginary crease along that line and fold the earring over, would the edges line up? That's symmetry.

In the daily course of human events the symmetry of your earrings (or lack of same) means little. It's only when you lose one that it becomes an issue. You can replace your lost earring with either right or left earring of a second pair if the design was symmetrical. If it wasn't, you need to find the specific directional replacement. And that's going to be harder, especially if you can't find an intact second pair.

How to clean Jody Coyote earrings

"I just recently purchased a set of earrings by Jody Coyote and wondered how to clean them. They are the real flowers and sterling silver earrings and I was told the flowers were miniature flowers from Mexico. I was just wondering if I can still use jewelry cleaner on them. The flower part seems to be in a plastic type mold and I wasn't sure what jewelry cleaner would do to this material. Thanks, rb from Kansas."

I would refrain from using liquid jewelry cleaner. A soft silver polishing cloth, applied gently, would probably be your best bet. You can get silver cleaning cloths at places like Bed Bath and Beyond.

We are firm believers in making things as easy as possible whenever possible. Remember the old days of catalog shopping? Remember filling out paper order forms? Actually, that was kind of fun. But you'd get to the bottom of the form and there would be shipping charges to add in, often a handling fee, sometimes sales tax, and a few catalog merchants would even charge you for insurance on your shipment. You could end up spending double what you thought you would.

Now, we will admit that print catalogs do still have their merits. You wouldn't want to take a laptop to the beach with you. And we don't know anyone personally who does this, but you probably don't want to use a computer in the loo, either.

Niobium earrings

Jody Coyote earrings are typically crafted with sterling silver or 14k gold filled ear wires. Seasonal collections often have hypoallergenic stainless steel ear wires. If, on the other hand, you have allergies to certain metals, such as nickel, Jody Coyote niobium earrings may be for you.

Niobium is a hypoallergenic metal much like titanium. In jewelry-making it is heated and anodized, which produces a wide range of bright colors.

The beginning

Once upon a time there was an eBay seller who bought sterling silver jewelry salvage from A Very Large Department Store Chain back East. "Salvage" in the retail business refers to anything that isn't 100% ready-for-sale perfect, usually with only very minor easy-to-fix booboos. Some of the items in the salvage lots were Jody Coyote earrings. The eBay seller couldn't help but notice how popular these were when she put them up on auction. Soon she was getting requests from people to find a replacement for a favorite earring they'd lost. And so JCEarrings was born.

JCEarrings now sells only perfect new and vintage Jody Coyote earrings. Earring matching and replacement is our specialty.
